Medivac

Rapid-response Medivac Capability

McDermott Aviation provides aeromedical support across Australia, offering rapid-response medivac capability in partnership with accredited Critical Care Paramedics. This capability is often deployed alongside our construction, remote operations and heavy-lift activities, where distance, terrain and limited access may require immediate medical support.

Our aircraft can be configured quickly for patient transport, enabling safe and efficient movement from remote or inaccessible locations to appropriate medical facilities. In regions where population centres are sparse and response times are critical, our medivac capability provides a vital link in time-sensitive scenarios.

Why Use a Helicopter?

Minimal setup time

Access where cranes can’t operate

Reduced site disruption

No ground footprint

Rapid mobilisation

Cost-effective for difficult lifts

Search and Rescue

Qualified Rescue Personnel

McDermott Aviation operates a diverse fleet capable of supporting a wide range of search and rescue (SAR) missions. We have historically provided significant capability to AMSA-led operations, including serving as the primary medical aircraft during major search efforts.

Selected aircraft are equipped with advanced homing and direction-finding systems to rapidly locate Emergency Locator Beacons (EPIRBs and ELTs). These systems operate continuously during flight, providing precise feedback to the crew and improving response times during distress beacon activations.

Our SAR capability includes personnel winching, rescue strops, baskets, survival kits, flotation devices, dye markers and other mission-essential equipment. Crew are trained in rescue operations, with qualified rescue swimmers available for helicopter-based extraction in both land and maritime environments.

Which Aircraft Do I Need?

Different missions require different aircraft performance profiles. Our fleet allows us to match the right platform to each task, ensuring the safest, most efficient and most operationally effective outcome.
